When should I start taking my child to the dentist?

Hello my child is 14 months. When did you first take your child to go to the  dentist?

They should start going when they get their first tooth, to establish a good relationship with the dentist so it is less scary.
My son is 5,he has been going every 6 months for check ups since he was 6 months old.
He loves the dentist.

Now. 1 year is what my doctor said but i took my son at 9 months because he had way more teeth than what was "normal" for his age

I just took my son for his first dentist appointment at 14 months. Which was a little later than his pediatrician suggested. The pediatrician recommended by age 1. 
The first appointment was easy. The dentist looked in his mouth and checked out his teeth. The dentist also showed my son some of his tools, to help make them less scary. The dentist talked to me about good habits, like brushing, flossing and what my son is eating/drinking. Lastly the dentist applied a fluoride treatment. 
We chose not to pay for dental insurance for my son yet, so we just paid out of pocket. The out of pocket cost was cheaper than the annual dental insurance premium.

No dentist In my sons insurance plan will see him until 18 months but his dr did a Fluoride treatment.
