Infant tummy sleepers?!

No judgment please. But does anyone else let there little one sleep on there tummy during nap time? My baby is almost a month old and loves sleeping on his tummy. He sleeps so much better that way! But I only let him during naps because I am constantly checking on him. I’ve heard from a few family members including my mother with me, started letting there babies sleep on there tummy by 1 month but I am too paranoid. Has anyone else done this?! I know it’s a big no no with doctors.

It’s a big no no Because they sleep better on their bellies. Which means their brain has a harder time waking them up if something is wrong - because they are sleeping so hard. That’s why it increases SIDS risk.

I didn’t let my son until I knew for sure he could roll on to his back again. I would just keep him simple because I was very paranoid about SIDS

I had both my daughters sleep on their belly’s after the first week. It was they only way they slept. My first daughter also would throw up and choke on her vomit so I was not putting her on her back.

We let our son sleep on his tummy on us while he’s napping. My husband lays on the couch and watches tv while our son naps on him. We feel relatively safe doing that because my husband can continuously feel him breathing. I don’t know if we’d do it in the bassinet. He’s a month old and even when he’s swaddled he manages to scoot all over the place in his bassinet.

For naps i did and chwcked on them. But i didnt let them often because i didnt want them to not sleep at night on their backs.

My daughter (6 weeks) will only sleep on her tummy during the day. When she falls asleep if you put her down on her back she’ll wake up and scream if you flip her to her belly she’ll fall fast asleep. I think the main concern is that they’ll put their nose in the fabric and suffocate but my baby has really good head control. I still wouldn’t let her sleep this way at night tho. My mom and mother in law were actually shocked when I told then she had to sleep on her back. The doctor told both of them to put all her kids on their bellies from birth 💁🏼‍♀️

Supervised naps are fine! All these people judging you -- do they not let their babies nap in swings or car seats or bouncers? Those also aren't safe sleep approved.

I let my daughter nap on her belly during the day when I’m sitting on the couch folding laundry or something. She’s been rolling to her side almost completely to her back and turns her head like crazy side to side and I only have a thin receiving blanket that she’s laying on that way she doesn’t have fluffy big blankets in her face. The carpet is very thin too. She loves napping on her tummy and then ends up on her side, every time I adjust her, she moves back on her side. I always supervise her. It always helps with her not getting such a flat head from being on her back a lot.

I can’t remember what age but my son has been napping on his belly during the day. I don’t even try his back anymore cause he won’t stay asleep even swaddled. I did it when he could lift his head but he still can’t roll over. We’re 15 weeks and I’ve been putting him on his belly to sleep for the first stretch in his bassinet at night but then sleeps in our bed so his position is varied. That’s the only way he has gotten sleep and we have gotten sleep. I didn’t want to do it this way but it’s what’s worked for us. He’s just not a good sleeper like my daughter.
