My LO is starting to pull my nipple a lot when he eats and it hurts.Should I try using a nipple shield?

I wouldn’t unless the pain is too much. They can decrease your supply because they don’t offer as much nipple stimulation. I’m trying everything I can to get my baby to wean off it. He was labeled by a lactation consultant as possibly having a tongue tie after he wouldn’t latch in his first 15 hours of life. I’m a FTM and didn’t know any better, so I used the shield as lactation recommended, even tho he probably just needed more time. Well here we are 8 weeks later. Definitely not tongue tied and can’t get him off the shield. He makes faces anytime I try and latch him to my nipple, then screams.

I try and teach my LO boobie manners haha. Anytime she does something that hurts I take her off and readjust and out her back on

My little girl had nipple confusion with a shield so I don’t like those at all. But whatever works for you and your baby. I think they can learn to have good manners while nursing.
