No ultrasound until 11.5 weeks?!

Hello! So I’m 7 weeks today and just went in for my first OB prenatal appt. They only did bloodwork and a consult. They said the first ultrasound isn’t until 11.5 weeks! I was so disappointed 😔 This seems so far away! How do people get them so early? Is this normal? How do I go about life with the anxiety for another 4 and a half weeks until then?

Well I wouldn’t be too jealous of those getting it early because it’s because of past miscarriage history or bleeding...

Normal. My first was at 11 weeks but that’s only because I didn’t know my LMP. Otherwise we only get our 20 week anatomy scan.

An ultrasound at 7 or 8 weeks doesn’t really reduce anxiety that much. At least it didn’t for me. 11.5 is pretty normal (depends on health provider and insurance) and is much closer to the relative safety of second trimester.

My 1st is scheduled for 12 weeks, but I had some spotting and did one privately at 7 weeks

My first was at 9 weeks but they wanted me at least 8 weeks first. It sucks to wait but you'll see more closer to 12 weeks.

My first was at 13wks. Its normal for pregnancies that didnt require fertility treatments and where there is no history of miscarriage.

you usually only get one earlier if your high risk. A lot of people on here have issues conceiving, etc. so they get one earlier. I got one at 7 weeks bc i havent had a period in a year (had my 3rd son this Feb) & now i get them often due to having twins. (high risk)

I’m getting my first one at about the same time. I think if people are high risk or have bleeding or something, they might order an earlier one but that’s pretty normal in a routine pregnancy. Usually one between 10-12 weeks and another around 20 weeks
