Should I trust the AAP or my pediatrician? Doctor said to not introduce allergen foods until 1 yr, AAP says the sooner the better. Who would you trust?

I think the question is WHY is your doctor saying to wait until one year? What’s their reasoning? Why aren’t they on board with the AAP?
If there’s any allergies in your family then it’s even more important to introduce those potential allergens earlier. So I’m not sure what reason there would be to wait until later. 
Sometimes doctors aren’t up to date on the most current recommendations. I would assume this is the case here. 
I would go with what dozens and hundreds of doctors say based on research (the AAP) over one doctor who may have old information.

I gave my baby everything except honey starting at 6 months. She never had an issue with anything. With that said, her father & I do not have food related allergies at all - making my daughter low risk.

Our dr also said not to try high allergen foods until one. And when I said we were planning to do BLW (baby led weaning) she said it was fine. Then asked at our 9 month appointment how everything was. She freaked when I said she tried shrimp, she said not until 3 but my daughter loves it and has been fine. She's 1 now and has been eating everything except honey since 3 months. 
I was just honest with our dr about what I wanted to do and that I felt comfortable with it. She understood.

I personally trust local doctors more. I've seen big medical bodies (the APA being one example) get politicized and give bad information for the sake of not upsetting certain people. Local doctors aren't beholden to the mob and they know your child better than any faceless government body.

My pediatrician also told us to wait for certain things until our little one turned one. We did what the pediatrician said because he told us if they don’t really run in our family it’s not likely that he will be allergic. But at his one year appointment he mentioned that studies are saying now that the sooner you introduce them the less likely to develop allergies. 
I agree with the other comment. You need to mention what the AAP recommends ask WHY he recommends something different. I always always always ask my pediatrician about that kid of stuff and reasoning. I ask a million questions. Make sure you don’t leave with unanswered questions. He may have a reason for your child specifically. You never know 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's a personal choice. I waited to introduce allergens with my first and he had an egg allergy until he was 9. I didn't wait with my second and he outgrew his egg allergy at 2. I introduced everything early with my third and he is allergic to eggs, tree nuts, and shellfish. He outgrew his peanut allergy at 3.

I always thought that the best time to introduce those common allergen foods is early. Our son had a pretty severe milk protein allergy that required an amino acid based formula from 5 weeks until 4 months. His pediatrician recommended trying to reintroduce dairy early at 4 months, and he was totally fine from that point on.
