Is it ok to dye a 5 year olds hair if they want?

My 5 year old wants blonder hair. Her 17 year old sister has bleach blonde hair and she wants to be like her sister and like Barbie. Is it bad for her in any way at this age?

I’d suggest finding her someone with the same color hair & show that her hair color is perfect & beautiful as it is. You don’t want to damage the hair with bleach so young.

i personally wouldn’t ever bleach a child’s hair, i’d do hair chalk or clip ins for them. Bleach is such a harsh chemical but if you do it is go to an actual hairdresser

At that age I would try something like "Sun in" .   Bleach may be too harsh on her hair and scalp

For it to get that way, she might have to use bleach which is something that I, personally would not be comfortable doing on a child or getting it done for my child due to how harsh bleach is. 
I’ve dyed little girls’ hair before. But it’s been temporary dyes such as Pravana and it’s on girls with already blonde hair so no lifting is required. It’s deposit only and it typically fades within 4-6 weeks.

I think another question would be - why does she feel like she wants to be just like someone else? Since she is so young I would try to teach her to love the hair and traits she does have before I’d bleach her hair

You could get some clip in hair extension strands.. a wig, some hair chalk.. but please don’t bleach or dye your child’s hair

if it was like a manic panic dye or something like that yes. I wouldnt allow bleach on their hair until they were in high school though.
