Still using gates at the stairs?

Another poll! 🤗 wondering if you all are still using gates at the steps. We have a three story home and it seriously has felt like Fort Knox up in here the past year. (I go through three gates to get to our bedroom😖). I’m ready to get rid of them as I feel like it’s our 2 yr old is shutting them more often than us at this point. She’s pretty good on the stairs and doesn’t really randomly go up down wo one of us around. It would be nice to have our stairs back wo the step thru gates. What are you all doing? Did you take yours down yet?

We have a gate at the bottom of the stairs only because I don’t trust my son to be upstairs alone. He either gets into my husbands office, or plays in our shower, or pulls makeup/bandaids, etc out of the drawers. Not okay! He has free range of the entire downstairs.

We have a 3 storey house and I have 1 at the bottom of the second flight of stairs, 1 at the top of the first flight so he can roam around the first floor bedrooms and bathroom.
Downstairs we had a big open plan kitchen/living room and we didn't want to lose any light but I hated having the playpen divider stretched across the room looking so messy so we built a half height wall between the kitchen and living room, left a door width walkway through the middle and topped it with some nice pieces of oak. We then put a baby gate in that walkway so I can have my oven on without having to guard it constantly.

We only started a few weeks ago. Running upstairs to my husbands office and our bathroom became a game (we have 2 staircases so you can’t guard both). With a new infant at home, I couldn’t keep chasing him.

We have one at top and bottom of stairs, ours are wooden so a little dangerous plus he’s in a bed now so we put one at the top incase he gets out in the middle of the night x

We have a door in front of our stairs from the main floor to the basement, but we used to keep stairs at the base of it too. Now she navigates them well enough that we don’t worry so much about keeping the upstairs door closed, and the gate at the bottom is gone. They’re carpeted too, so that helps. 
However, we still use gates on our steep deck stairs outside. That’s a long way to fall with concrete at the bottom, so those gates will probably stay for a little while longer.
