PGS testing—yes or no?

Hello everyone 
I am wondering if people are doing PGS genetic testing on their embryos. I am CD1 and need to let the clinic know if we want this option in our protocol. 
I’m 31 and with unexplained infertility. Hubby’s counts and testing have been fine. We have never been pregnant. 
The test will cost an extra $4,800.00–obviously that’s a lot of money but if it will help with a successful pregnancy it would be well worth it.

My doc doesn’t recommend it because there’s a possibility you’re throwing away perfectly good embryos from a false bad result. Since you’re young with no history of miscarriage and no sperm issues, I personally would skip it. However, if you think you’re likely to get a lot of embryos, then you might be willing to sacrifice a few to focus on the ones with the most positive chance. It really is a personal choice. My RE said he only recommends it if you’re older, have multiple miscarriages, or if there is a family history of serious problems (ex: cystic fibrosis). Since we’re young 28 and 30 and have no health issues other than not being able to conceive he said we shouldn’t waste our money

No PGS testing and only one embryo available to transfer but it seems to have worked. Currently 8 weeks pregnant. Good luck!

We did not do PGS testing. Our Dr. advised against it due to age and healthy eggs. We had 25 retrieved, 19 fertilized, and 13 frozen. We transferred 1 5AA embryo and I’m now 8 weeks.

We had 11 frozen embryos and 5 came back abnormal. Completely respect those that didn’t choose to do it, but it was very important to us considering we weren’t getting pregnant and it didn’t make sense to us so I worried about egg/embryo quality. I’m 27 for context

We were just offered PGS testing today and we opted not to. We felt that it wasn’t necessary, and my RE agreed. I guess if our first ivf cycle fails maybe we would reconsider.

It is helpful to identify the embryos with highest likelihood of success.  Regardless of age, not all will test normal.  I think of it as a way to save time and avoid unnecessary potential disappointment.

My doctor gave me the option and said she would recommend it for us as I have suffered one chemical pregnancy and suffer from anxiety.  Anything I can do to help ease some of my anxiety in this process I’ll take.

I am 31 with no infertility or history of mc and we did the PGS because we were doing PGD for an existing genetic condition. Of the 7 embryos we tested, the PGS picked up three that were chromosomally abnormal
