Is this normal for right now?
I know every kid is different but I feel like this is maybe sleep regression?
Son went from having 2 naps a day, to most of the time 1 and the odd time 2 if he happens to wake up earlier and doesn’t go back to sleep. His normal bed time recently has been 8-8:30. I’d like it to be 7:30-8 but he changed his bedtime on his own basically just refusing to go to sleep until later. He’s also waking in the middle of the night, sometimes at midnight ish and other times not till like 5 or so. If he wakes up at midnight then he wakes up for the day around 6:30-7; then has a morning nap. If he wakes up around 5 to eat then he sleeps until sometimes 8:30 most the time 8. Then he will only have 1 nap in the afternoon. He’s tired again by like 4:30-5 but does not go down for a nap he instead waits till 8-8:30 to go to sleep. At our last check up (1yr) the doctor recommended getting him to put himself back to sleep in the middle of the night rather than sleep training first (getting him to put himself to sleep for bed), so right now it’s if he wakes up in the middle of the night I’m to wait 5 mins then 10mins the next week and he’ll get the point. I just feel like I’m the only one still putting a 1yr old to bed, still doing night time feedings (bottle fed), and still not having a solid routine down. Don’t get me wrong we’ve had months before of a routine and I know routines change with babies at different ages but it’s making me feel like my competence as a mother is being heavily challenged right now 😖
