Breast milk jaundice??

Anyone had it? Is it really bad? Should I switch to formula??

We were just "diagnosed" with breast milk jaundice- not to be confused with breastfeed jaundice when baby doesn't get enough milk-food. My doctor gave us two options, first to keep breast feeding and jaundice will go away at some point by 12 weeks of age or to switch to formula for at least 4 days to lower jaundice, but it will slowly go up again when I go back to breastfeeding. I decided to stick to EBF. Breast Milk Jaundice happens when your baby's liver can't process protein from your milk. My LO was born at 37weeks so maybe his body still needs to catch up and fully develop all the organs. But if it was that serious I want to believe our pediatrician wouldn't give us options. 
I'm interested to hear what others experience has been and when it went away.
This is my 2nd baby boy, and with the first one born at 39 weeks we just did indoor sun baths for a week and it went away.

We had it and she is fine! I kept her by the window, nursed her as much as possible and after four weeks she was fine. The benefits of breastfeeding far outweighed stopping for me. Your milk will adjust and baby will be ok. What is baby’s jaundice levels right now?

If you want to breast feed don’t give up. Babies becoming jaundice is common and even formula fed babies can have it. If it’s a supply issue, pump when baby gets formula. Pump every 2-3 hours with one 4 hour stretch at night and your supply will go up. Unless baby latches well you can nurse, pump, give bottle. I would talk to a lactation consultant because I don’t know all your details but getting jaundiced is not something you should stop nursing over! My first I had a low supply at first and she was admitted to hospital next day after we left for Bili level of 19. One over night stay she was down to 8 and I just pumped until my milk came in and was enough to trust not pumping or giving formula.

They also told us to put him by the window in indirect sunlight so we install him often in the living room by the window. Do not put him or her in direct sunlight!

Our baby had it 4 days after being born. They put him under a lamp for 3h. He is all better now.
