Anyone get a high risk blood result for the first trimester screen?

I'm 29 and just got told I have a 1 in 76 chance of our baby having Down's syndrome.  The NT on the ultrasound was really good at 1 with a heartbeat of 163.  I'm really upset.  We're going for more bloodwork.  Any support is appreciated.

I do not have any advice, as I haven't gotten my results back. But I will say that one of my most rewarding jobs has been working in a early education center for babies and children with Down Syndrome. They are an excellent population and the earlier a parent seeks intervention, the better. I'm sure it's quite a different experience to have a child with DS than it is to work with them, but I will say that these children are the lights of their parents' life. I hope that your child is healthy regardless of the outcome. My suggestion would be to not stress too much about it, because there are wonderful services, people, and organizations out there that serve the DS population. Everything will be fine, parenting is always going to come with some degree of hardship. Good luck!!!

Are you still early enough for a CVS or far enough along for an amnio? More blood work is still just going to be a screening, not diagnostic. Don't feel like you have to do anything you don't want to do, but I think I'm generally in the minority here.

I had the same result from my first trimester sceen.  Nt scan was good blood work came back abnormal.  I had some more blood work done, cell free DNA testing.  And everything came back normal.  It is 98% percent accurate and found out I am having a boy.  Try not to stress but ask your doctor about cell free DNA blood work much safer then amino or cvs.

I've heard these come back with high results pretty often. I'd try not to worry if the scan looked good! My mom was sent to genetic counseling and all kinds of stuff with my brother, she had a high risk of DS she got the amnio and went through all that stress....guess what, my bro was/is totally fine and DS free. It's just a chance. Even those odds mean 75 out of 76 babies are born with out DS. I know it's scary but try not to worry! Praying for peace of mind for you!
