My hubby and I are in disagreement with a boy name.... The first name is Luca but he wants the middle name to be Ernest after his grandpa... I hate that name and he is not budging..

Both of you should like the name, even if it's neither person's first choice. If you hate it, you hate it. Even if everyone on here likes it (I'm pretty meh about it) it doesn't matter. You're his mother and you need to like his name.

A little unconventional, but could you do a middle initial instead of the name? Just Luca E.  so that your husband can honor his grandfather but you don’t have to use the full name? (One of my cousins names is legally G. Owen after our grandfather Gerard.)

See if he has someone else he wants to honor since you don’t like the name but I agree with the other posters. It doesn’t flow right TO ME, but it’s you and your husbands child not ours. But also if he can’t honor his grandpa I don’t find it fair for you to get to honor someone in your family. It needs to be common ground on EVERYTHING. The name, the honors, the meanings. You guys both should like everything about the name.

I personally love the name Ernest. But if you hate it then it shouldn’t be part of your child’s name.
Did his grandpa have another name you could consider instead? Or his birthplace or like his favorite tree or something else that’s tied to him?
