So I just found out I’m pregnant after 2 miscarriages in a row. I track my ovulation regularly and know exactly when I got pregnant as it was only one time that month. My question is why would I have to base my pregnancy weeks off of my last period. Wouldn’t that just be adding unnecessary weeks to make me further along?

I never understood that either. I track my ovulation too, like obsessively. I know when i got pregnant as well but they still go off last period 🤷‍♀️

I have crazy long cycles (like 45 days sometimes) so I can’t go off of my lmp because it would make me weeks farther along than I am. Fortunately this time I know when I ovulated and conceived. I have just had to explain to doctors in both pregnancies that I have crazy long cycles and they can’t use my lmp, and they have understood, especially bc the ultrasounds backed me up. For this app, I put in a fake lmp that gives me the correct due date 🤷‍♀️ Annoying that people assume everyone has a 28 cycle...

They go of last period because most women don’t know when they ovulate. And baby can measure less anyways because of timing with implantation.

Doctors go by the first day of your last period because most women do not know when they ovulated or conceived. If you don’t know your lmp then they’ll just wait for an ultrasound and measure the baby.
If doesn’t add unnecessary weeks because they have it down to a science, literally lol where the lmp would closely match the growth of the baby. For example with me, I know when my last period was and when I ovulated. They both matched exactly to the growth of my baby at 9 weeks.

Yeah I feel you. Due to long periods for me my LMP put me a month  ahead of what I really was. I knew the exact day I conceived but no one would believe me. Even some of the girls on this app don’t believe it’s possible. So yeah. I would go based off what you know for your body and just take it with a grain of salt when it comes to the doctors.
