So I just found out I’m pregnant after 2 miscarriages in a row. I track my ovulation regularly and know exactly when I got pregnant as it was only one time that month. My question is why would I have to base my pregnancy weeks off of my last period. Wouldn’t that just be adding additional unnecessary weeks to make me further along?

Your pregnancy is dated from the first date of your LMP. So when you show positive on a test, you are already around 4 weeks pregnant even though it’s only 2 weeks after conception. It’s just the way they date it. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because even though you think you know the exact day you conceived because you had sex, fertilization can happen up to 5 days after. Dating this way might make it more accurate 🤷🏻‍♀️
