First fertility appointment- yay

Amy

After a year of trying, a PCOS diagnosis and three failed Letrozole rounds I was referred to a fertility clinic. I was scared and I didn’t know what to expect. I even cried in the waiting room thinking “I don’t want to be here, this isn’t fair”.

I knew my insurance wouldn’t cover anything so that was weighing on me too (Wisconsin).

Our appointment was two hours long. We met with a team of doctors, a nurse and a financial counselor. They also have a full time psychologist on staff who deals exclusively with fertility patients. One doctor assured me that in stress related studies, infertility is as stressful as a cancer diagnosis.

They took extensive medical histories, answered all my questions, were very straight forward with pricing and options. By the end of the appointment I had 9 tubes of blood taken, a urine test, a saliva test (at home kit) and an order for a Fallopian tube test along with my husbands work up.

I was scared to take this first step but I know I’m doing what we need to.
