1cm dilated at 32 weeks

I have been having painful period like cramps, and Braxton Hicks contractions. Also a LOT of pressure. Doctor did an exam yesterday and said I am 1cm dilated, baby is already “very low and engaged” and that she could feel the top of his head “right there.” Is this normal for 32 weeks?

She just told me to take it easy for now and did a test to determine preterm labor (waiting to hear results back).

I know you can be dilated for weeks and have no progress (I was 2cm dilated with my daughter 3 weeks before I went into labor). However, I am still TWO months away from delivery so it’s seems a bit early for baby to be so engaged and my cervix to de dilating.

I was wondering if there is a higher chance he could be early because I am dilated so early this time, and feel so much pressure. Has anyone else experienced this?
