Elective induction at 39 weeks?

My doctor allows inductions at 39 weeks since new research indicates that there is a lower chance of c section that way. Has anyone been induced at 39 weeks and what was your experience like?

That is not true at all.  Inducing automatically increases your chances of a cesarean.  Inducing early for no reason would increase your chances of cesarean even more.  If you want to avoid a cesarean don’t induce at all.  If I had not had high blood pressure I would not have induced and likely wouldn’t have ended up with a cesarean.

I can tell you I went into labor naturally with my water braking at home, I was progressing but not fast enough for my OB so she started the Pitocin. THAT caused my labor to slow, and it was so painful! I was in labor for 72 hours and not only that I had NO meds or epi the whole time because she wanted me to feel everything.
It was my first baby, I was 22 and instead of doing a c section she had me keep going pushing for 2.5 hours! They said he was gonna be 10 lbs but came out at 7.14 lbs.
I was induced with my second but I was given the pill cervidal and had her in 9 hours, I no complications and I pushed for 20 min!
Pitocin I feel does more bad than good! I’d stay clear.

I was induced at 39 weeks and I'm so glad it definitely saved me from a c section my son was very big for my size and was also face up i had to have a forceps delivery and had 4th degree tearing and episiotomy. Had i pushed it any longer i definitely would have needed a c section i was literally on push from an emergency c section when i popped him out. I had a 10 hour labor it went pretty smooth until the delivery

Yes, this is new research that is being discussed. The study states, “Our analysis suggests that elective induction at 39 weeks is associated with a lower rate of cesarean delivery and does not increase the risk of major complications for newborns.”

I had an elective induction at 39 weeks. My labor was fantastic! Went in at 7pm. Started pitocin at 10pm. Contractions started at 5am. Epidural around 11am. Started pushing at 3pm. Baby born 6:24pm.  In labor for less than 12hrs. I loved every minute of my labor. No complications, it was perfect. 
Though, this time I'm going to wait until everything happens naturally as I really want to experience my water breaking, contractions etc.
Do what YOU want. And dont let any mom shamers make your decision.

I’ve read that inducing actually has a higher chance of c-section. The pitocin can make things more painful and slow the process down which leads to the emergency c-section. Maybe 39 week induction has a lower chance of c-section compared to other weeks? Honestly, I’d let baby come when he/she is ready. Women have been doing this for years, we were meant to do it, and it’s quite amazing how in sync our bodies and babies are. It’s like a dance and it’s beautiful.

I was suppose to be induced at 39 wks bc my son was so big. But the day of the induction (which wasn’t til 7pm) I went into labor on my own. 4hrs later my son was here. 
I’m actually really happy I wasn’t induced. Pitocin is a bitch! (I was induced earlier than 39wks with my first)
