Can ex lovers be just friends?

I’m in a stable relationship. It’ll be our second time trying for a baby. Recently one of my past lovers has been wanting to be friends and hangout, go out for dinner. Do you think thats consider being disloyal if I start a friendship with a past lover? Even though we are simply friends nothing more?

Can they- absolutely. One of my best friends is an ex boyfriend. He and my husband get along great.It mostly depends on the maturity level and established boundaries of all involved. I believe that if you were genuinely real friends before dating, as in not just friends because you're sexually interested in each other, and are mature enough to end the relationship amicably, then you can always find your way back to friendship.When my husband and I were first dating I told him flat out "This person and I have history but he is a very important friend to me and if that was something he wasn't comfortable with then we probably should not continue seeing one another".. Luckily it was a non-issue for him.
That said, I do not believe re-kindling a friendship that has not been there later once you are with someone else is the right way to do that, personally.  I think this is something you need to talk with your partner about and see how he feels about it and what boundaries he is comfortable with. 
This sounds a lot like putting out feelers to see if there is still a spark, not genuine friendship, to me.

If you were single I’d say no there’s no problem with it but if your in a relationship that’s a big no no to me associates sure but actually hang out and stuff.... nah

My ex and I are still friends and I have a new boyfriend. We don’t hangout together alone though, I feel like that’d be crossing a boundary. We usually just text once every week or two

My bestfriend and I of 15 years dated for 2 years and were rather sexual. Now we have both moved on and formed new relationships with other people. I'm married with a 13 month old daughter and a son due in two weeks. He has two girls with another woman and we talk almost daily and he talks to my husband as well. We have all hung out too.
