I am a black woman and my boyfriend is white. Unfortunately, he has a lot of racist family members. There's absolutely no problem with him coming around my family members but I still have yet to be around a lot of his because of their racist comments and mentality. His parents and other close family members are not that way and have met me and they all love me. He's getting frustrated because we really want to get married but he keeps asking me if I'm sure I'm ready to be a part of his family. I'm not a racist person and I love him to death but I'm not going to sit there and be disrespected by the members of his family who are racist. I really don't want our kids to only have relationships with my side of the family and I want us to be able to spend holidays and special occasions with both of our families. We don't want to miss out on seeing his family just because some of the people won't want me there. It's disappointing to me and it's upsetting my boyfriend and we don't know what to do.
