It can come out through pregnancy it doesn’t mean anything because it grows back. What you want to looking for is your bloody show, which is when you mucus plug is mixed with blood-this usually means you’ll go into labor within 48 hours.

I really depends, it’s been completely random with me. With my 2nd baby I lost it (a lot of it, with blood) about a week before I went into labor....but never saw any before then. 
With my 1st baby I was loosing chunks, randomly, starting at about 36 weeks. I didn’t see my bloody show with him. 
With this baby, number 3, I’ve been loosing chunks for a while. Recently, at 38 weeks (almost 39), I’m loosing a lot everyday.
