when did you get a larger carseat

my son is now 6 months and its starting to look a little uncomfortable in his carseat. we have the chicco keyfit 30 right now. when did everyone move up a size ? and what carseat do you recommend for the next size up? include a picture if you could please ! :)

My son was about 7/8 months when I switched him out of his keyfit30.  I switched him into a Graco extend to fit and we love it.  It’s one of the most compact convertible seats front to back and has one of the highest rear facing weights (50lbs).  I don’t have a picture of it on me... but they are pretty popular.

My son was 14mo when we switched from Chicco keyfit to the extend to fit. I use my stroller A LOT so I really loved the click in option on my stroller and he hadn’t maxed out in height/weight by that point.

I actually never used an infant car seat! I didn’t want to buy two car seats when I could use one for the whole time so my son has been in a convertible since birth. So any time you want to change you can! We love our Chicco Nextfit Zip :) he always seems comfy in it and I love that it’s so easy to keep clean!

I switched my kids over to the graco forever extend to fit when they were 3-4 months old, pretty much when they could hold their heads up really well, and I was struggling to carry them in the infant car seat.

You can move up whenever you feel ready to. My boy was 9 months when we switched, he was too heavy to keep carrying in the bucket but it was a hassle to get him in and out of it easily. We got the Diono Radian RXT, it’s good from newborn to youth, does rear facing/forward facing/high back booster. It can be a little bit pricey but it’s better than needing to buy a new one for each stage

I switched my daughter from her infant seat to a convertible one when she was just under the height and weight limit. I think it was like 30 lbs for the weight limit and 35 inches on the height. We had the graco click connect. I switched her to a graco extend extend2fit. I love this car seat. My husband hates it. He thinks it’s too hard to get her in and out of. I have no issues. I drive a Hyundai Elantra, if that helps. With this car seat though she can rear face until 50lbs and forward face in it until 65lbs. I plan on having her rear face until she maxes out the weight for it.
