Do you think it's acceptable to take time off work for your period?

I know lots of people laugh when I say I take time off for my period. But I know every girl is different. Some don't get any cramps or pain. And some (like me) get sick, have cramps and just die for 3 days! Let me know what you think.

No. Sorry. Lifes not fair. Jobs arent gonna put up with people taking sick days every month. Youre gonna have to deal with a period for years. Take some pain medicine and tough it out. If your period is severe enough where its interferring with daily life, you need to see a doctor asap. I know periods suck but its something you have to learn to deal with.

I mean, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I feel like it's unfair to the other employs who never call out and to the ones that may have to cover for you. Plus I've known people that would have definitely taken advantage of the situation. On the other hand I'm sure periods are harder for some more than others. Idk... I mean I know people who suffer from chronic migraines, idk how they function in day to day life much less trying to work.

No. If they are that bad then you need to go to the doctor and fix whatever issue is causing them to be that bad.

In high school i think it's something you can get away with doing. As an adult, no. At that point you are mature enough to go to the doctor, without fearing what your parents opinions will be, and have them help you find a solution to the issue. An employer and your coworkers aren't going to let something like that fly every month. When they are that bad, you need to start looking into possible solutions instead of relegating yourself to a life of missing work for 1+ days every time your period rolls around. And i understand how bad they can be, because i missed, or was late, for school a day or two each time because i was stuck on the toilet in pain from all angles. But there came a point where i couldn't keep doing that, and i found something (advil in my case) that was a big help in getting through the first couple days. And then eventually i moved on to the pill.

Yes. If everybody werr to bleed for a week straight, get painful non stop cramps, hesdaches, nausa, light headness, and crazy hormones. Not to mention having to change your tamp. Every hour or so the way i do when im in mine maybe they would understand why you would rather stay home and take time to recoop alone instead of being in the hustle and bustle of work. Some women however are really diffrent they dont cramp. They dont have headaches and they can handle it without a problem and thats great you go to work and u do your thing girl, but dont look down or make fun of the women like myself who just cant handle it as well... Thats my opinion anyways

When you have a period like I do, yes. Every month, my second day, I vomit. It's like morning sickness and cramps all day long. Right now, I just have to power through it because my fiancé is out of work. But when he is working, yes. I do sometimes call out of work because I don't want to be throwing up all day at work.
