Me and my boyfriend had a really important discussion today. To put things in perspective, we met in college. He graduated with his masters already and I have one year left in undergrad. We were friends before we got into a relationship which makes it feel like we’ve been together for longer than we have. We just work well.

Here’s the issue: He’s not a U.S citizen and his visa expires soon if he doesn’t find a place of employment. He was recently offered an internship in D.C which I’m happy for him, but after he’ll have to return to his home country. He is scheduled to leave in a few weeks if he doesn’t hear from one of the places here, which he recently interviewed with.

We agreed that what we’re building is really special and we definitely want to try to make it work, but long distance will be challenging. I just want your opinion. If in my situation, what would you do? Keep fighting or Let go?
