We just got our cat who’s 3 years old today after her owner had to give her away.

It’s been a few hours now where she’s still sat in her carrier, not eating or drinking. She’s very shy and she’s barely moving.

We do also have a daughter whose 15 months old and she’s calm around her as well

I was just wondering if anyone has any tips to help her feel more at ease or relaxed?

Obviously I know it’s a hard moment being in a different house all together

Update!

Me and my partner left her alone most of the nights, we’d go in and check but throughout the night she’s made it into the lounge and is currently on our windowsill. Still not eaten or drank or used her litter tray
