Question

My boyfriend always says how I’m beautiful and he has nothing to offer me and he’s so paranoid because he knows other men text me but I don’t respond, I have said to him if I wanted someone else I wouldn’t be with you and all his family say that I’m too good for him and it hurts me that he thinks this and also I feel he doesn’t trust me when he says he’s “paranoid”

Answer

To be honest I would sit him down quietly and have a talk about this. Tell him that his insecurity is unfounded, you chose him because you feel like he DOES have something to offer, and that you can make these decisions on your own without his family’s input. They are not in the relationship with him, you are. And he needs to learn how to just enjoy your time together instead of second-guessing everything when you yourself have given him no reason to do so.
Insecurity can eventually lead to controlling or manipulative behaviors down the line, just be aware of that. I’m not saying he’s absolutely going to develop those behaviors, but it usually starts at insecurity.
