Castor Oil ? NO NO NO

Question

Ladies  please read how dangerous castor oil can be to the baby. I see post saying" my doctor approved it" . Are you sure it's always a good idea to listen always always to your doctor? 
i don't know about you but i had been to the glow forums for over 3 years now. Babies died or had been close to death etc. Why would you risk it? I understand some of you want your babies out or do not want to get induced ,however , please be careful. Please. We made it so far. Be patient. I do not want to see later posts about stillbirth it's really heartbreaking. 
For sure i can't tell you to do something . It's your body and your baby ,but please be wise.

You really need to ask your doctor or medical professional some questions. Castor oil is perfectly safe under the right circumstances. I just got back from an appointment with my midwife that practices at a well known and reputable hospital, after we discussed castor oil. 
It’s a laxative, as much as greasy foods, are laxatives. It gets your belly and digestive system to poop which in turn causes contractions. Sometimes that happens to people when they eat spicy foods, Mexican, burgers etc. Thats why they say to eat that food to induce labor.  
Castor oil doesn’t reach the baby. It just triggers your bowels to move. Sometimes it doesn’t even work. And it won’t work unless your cervix is favorable, dilated, softening and effaced. 
There are no studies done that relate castor oil to the cause of meconium in the sac, or fetal death. It could of just been a matter of fact, an odd chance and easy thing to blame for something that could of happened without castor oil. For example, with my first, she had meconium in the sac, if I took castor oil, (which i didn’t) it could of been VERY easy for me to blame her bowel movement on the oil... Which it had nothing to do with. 
If someone is thinking of castor oil, 10000% bring it up to your doctor or midwife. You should 200% be able to trust your doctor/CNM, and if you don’t, then you need to be going elsewhere. My provider and myself talked about the pros and cons, precautions, what it does, what it doesn’t do. Don’t do things and make decisions without talking to your provider and don’t make decisions by reading forums and biased reviews online.

I am also not sure what doctor is saying that castor oil is okay. My husband and his colleagues were over the other night and just mentioning castor oil elicited an “omg no,” response. They’ve all seen cases of mother being in danger or the baby needing emergency evacuation due to defecating in the womb or worse, they’ve experienced babies not making it after defecating in the womb and swallowing.
