Thinking about a big boy/girl bed?

Question

I know it’s early.. but is anyone thinking about when they will transition to a big bed? I’m having such a hard time with the crib he doesn’t even sleep in it because when we put him down he wakes right up and cry’s and cry’s and I just get him and bring him to bed with us. They say leave them for a long time in there crib but I’m thinking Christmas present will be a big boy room.. any thoughts? Any one else questioning it or thinking about it?

We put my daughter in one at 14 months because I’m having surgery and can’t lift her so this way we had plenty of time to teach her how to get out of bed and honestly she’s does a lot better in the big girl bed

My son was born at the end of May and we transitioned him into his big boy bed when we moved! He loves it!

We don't need the crib for anything else now so I think we will keep her in it until maybe 2.5 years or so. That's about when we transitioned my oldest although we needed the crib for her sister. Our pediatrician said some kids are quite content in a crib all the way to 3. As long as they aren't climbing out it's perfectly safe. That said, it's much easier to travel if they know how to sleep in a big bed. Only time will tell because this little girl likes to climb everything so it seems reasonable to expect her to attempt climbing out of bed sooner rather than later.

We transitioned my son about 19-20 months. We would just keep putting him back into bed if he got out. 
My daughter was about 13-14 months. She was soooooo easy because I could literally lay her anywhere and she would sleep. 
Now for this girl I’m not sure if I want to move her to the big bed right away or if I want to get her another crib as the next baby will be here in about 2.5 months and I don’t want to transition and train her after baby is here.

Our May baby is our fourth kid.  The toddler bed has been in her room since day one.  She takes naps on it sometimes.
This is one of those things where you do what works for your family.  If leaving the baby in the crib forever sounds great, go for it.  If you want to give the toddler bed a try, go for it.
Some kids do very well with an early transition...others roam the house nocturnally like a cat.  You won’t know which type of kid you got until you try.
