Pregnant with 2nd Child?

Question

Anyone else pregnant with their second child and having major anxiety about how their first will take to the major change? I have a 3 year old and I’m so worried that she will have a very hard time with the adjustment. 
Any good articles you’ve read that have eased your mind?

Yessssss. My daughter will be two in October and she’s also just started to turn into a witchy poo with her bad attitude that’s come out of nowhere and her not wanting to sleep! It’s a nightmare and I’m so anxious she’ll get worse. Maybe not though, the baby might give her something to focus on and be involved with in some ways which might make things better? 🤷🏼‍♀️ 
God help us! 😂

This is my third that I am expecting. When my second was born I didn’t really worry about it and my oldest had such a great transition into being a big brother! So many people tried to scare me saying it was going to be bad and he’d be jealous etc. but it was really great. This time around I’m a little bit more nervous about my soon-to-be middle child. Even though he’s the same age my eldest was, he’s much more of my “baby”. I do think a lot of it is just preparing them though. Talk to them about what it means to have a baby come and emphasize the “big” sibling role. And don’t forget to give your eldest plenty of attention. The baby won’t know they don’t have your undivided attention and will adapt to whatever environment you create, but your older child will know and miss your attention if it’s not given.

This was my life! I was sure that he would be mad at us, mad at the baby, and looking to return her. He’s turning 2, so I didn’t think he’d really get it. We read a big brother book before baby came. However, she was 6.5 weeks early so I didn’t get in all the preparation that I wanted to. I had planned to show him her room and talk about who would be living there, but the room was 0% done. The first two weeks while I was traveling back-and-forth to the NICU definitely rocked his world. Even though I was exhausted from pumping around the clock and traveling back and forth, I tried to build in some special time. I’d never been away from him that much, and he did respond by telling me “no” a lot and yelling. The time together helped, but man, was it a mama guilt trip to leave him to go see her and then to leave her there to make it home for dinner with him. 
And then she came home. And He. Was. Smitten. He loves holding her hand and her toes. He gives her kisses and hugs. She’s the first person he talks about in the morning. Not to say everything has been perfect. He definitely needs to be close when I’m feeding her and sometimes has a hard time waiting on me to help him with something if I’m tied down with her. He tries to help with her and has a hard time if I tell him no. But I do praise times when I ask for help or when he listens to me. 
After the fact people sent books about new babies. I liked the Daniel Tiger one, but the Little Critter was ok too. I’ve kept his routine as similar as possible (with special visits from grandparents) and have definitely built in quality time together, even if it’s for sitting to read books or putting on music to dance to. We’ve also tried a family activity (usually a walk around the neighborhood) daily so he gets to do something he likes with all of us. 
I guess long story short was that I expected it to be much worse, but he’s been a champ!  Good luck!

I’m worried but at the same time my son is normally so sweet and loves sharing so I have hope it won’t be too bad. I know there is going to be some huge changes but I’m as ready as I can be. One article I read was to tell both to wait (obviously not when baby is crying) but she said by her son hearing that the baby is being told to wait just like him it helped. The other portion I read was to extend the oldest bed time by 10-15min. This way they get some one-on-one time with mom and dad as well as feel special because baby had to go to bed but they got to stay up. To help with bonding we are adding story time before we put the baby to bed with both of them. It’s not much and I’m sure things will change but it was a good start

Super concerned about mine as well. He just turned 2 and is the first grandchild and great grandchild in over 10 years...so he is spoiled rotten. Now his sister is on the way and he still doesn't talk, so communicating to him what it all means is difficult and I'm unsure if he gets it. He is extremely strong willed and certainly in the terrible 2's stage right now, so I worry he will be very jealous and have a hard time sharing attentions. Yet, I also know he will be fascinated by the new baby as he shows a lot of interest in other babies he sees.. just don't know if he will be as kosher with it all once he realizes this baby is staying with us lol.

Me! My first will be 3 in a few weeks and baby brother is due 9/13. I would say he’s mostly oblivious to what’s going on so I’m nervous what to expect. Mostly the fact that my life will be a legit circus for the next several months 😬😅
