5 1/2 weeks post c-section bleeding?

I had a c-section almost 6 weeks ago I bled (vaginally) for around 3 weeks and then got mucousy brown/yellow discharge for just over a week ( I spoke to the midwife she said this was normal even though I’m not convinced as it didn’t smell very pleasant) for the last 2 days now I’ve been bleeding quite heavily and passing bright red blood that is also quite mucousy. I am exclusively pumping so I didn’t think I would have my period so soon. Is this my period or should I get it checked out?
