Long story short my parents have always been slightly racist and looked down upon my husband and his family. However my parents have changed a lot now that I'm pregnant and are accepting the fact that I am now part of my husbands family. My MIL is throwing me a baby shower this Saturday at my house and I have not told my mom anything. She knows my MIL may be going to throw me a party some day but doesn't know when exactly and said she would like to be a part of it. My mom is also throwing me a separate baby shower in October at 36 weeks. Idk if it is necessary that my mom comes because I can picture her observing everyone from head to toe and it'll make me feel anxious and uncomfortable 😔 I feel bad that I haven't told her about this baby shower yet but I'm still not sure if I should invite her and be prepared for her to criticize my MIL's family and guests, or maybe due to the fact she is accepting them now maybe she will behave differently? What do you think?
