Nhs IVF, my UK ladies?

Hi, 
I was wondering how long your initial appointment took after your GP's reffered you? 
I've just been told that my appointment will be end of the year in december =(. (At st barts hospital) And thats probably just paper work. Feeling a little depressed and down as i will be 30 on 2nd december . 
We did 1 private cycle which resulted in a chemical, cant afford another one, still paying off debt from the last one. So dont even know if we will definately be funded.
Any experiences ladies?

In terms of waiting for the initial tests- I think it was 2-3 months. We ended up needing IVF which was a 9 month wait and we tried Clomid for 6 months during. But wait times and funding depend on your local council area. We are in Haringey where there is high demand for treatment and they will fund 1 fresh and 1 frozen cycle. Some do more, some less. Do a quick Google on IVF funding guidelines for your area so you know what you're dealing with from the outset. Best of luck!

Hi there I’m sorry it didn’t work, the process was quite  lengthy, my GP was great tho and said she would send us for some tests to help quicken the process  due to us having to go to Birmingham women’s and they have quite a waiting list, so I had an HSG done plus bloods during and on certain days of my cycle, plus my partner had his checks done, so because all of that was ok, we had our first appointment and I was put on letrozole for 6 months which sadly hasn’t worked. We have now been discharged due to me having to pay for IVF which is around £5000 so sadly we can’t afford that right now so hard saving. But it’s probably taken about 12 months.

I’m in Scotland so might be slightly different. I went to my GP in September last year, got the first appointment with the gyno really quickly but all the testing and waiting in line took about 10 months before I got my first appointment with the assisted fertility clinic for IVF. It’ll be just over a year before I actually start any treatment. I suppose how long it takes for you will depend on what testing you’ve already had done and how long a wait your particular clinic has.

I'm originally from the UK but live in Ireland now. It's worth looking at clinic here if you are not afraid of going privately. There is a good few here and it's only a 40 minute plane journey approx from most places in the UK. 
We're paying privately here and because of that it's been relatively quick.

We went out of area to Bath and were seen quickly after an NHS referral.... do you have to go to Barts? We waited about 6 weeks...

When you say you are worried as you are turning 30..don’t worry you are a baby in terms of fertility treatments 🙂 I am 32 and my fertility doctor told me I’m a “young patient”. So don’t let the time it takes on the waiting worry you x

There's no NHS funding for anything where we are in the UK so we have had to go private 🤷😣

My referral from the GP took 6weeks, we went in November to the consultant to do the paperwork and started letrozole in December was on these for 6months till june/ july then was told to try ourselves through August, September and October when nothing happened we had all these rest done ie the hycosy, bloodwork, internals all over again. Come November we started to calm it quits when they rang and said we was starting our injections in December. And come January we had our fresh embryo transfer 😊. So took just over a year all together.

So we got referred December last year (start of) and had our initial app on 9th March. That app we went through everything, Wright’s, height, blood pressure, all our test results and I got the Internal ultrasound. We also got booked in for HSG and the urologist. We are currently waiting for my husband to get SRS then we should be starting treatment in jan roughly! It’s a long slog but we figured we would use the 2 free cycles on the NHS before we considered private if we need more
