How long should you wait to get married after being engaged??

What I think is engagement is not for getting to know eachother . That's dating for. 
Once your partner  proposed you that means yall already know eachother and ready to get married .I think engagement  shouldn't be longer than 6 months. That's a plenty time for preparing to wedding .

Been engaged for almost two years we are waiting for me to finish college which is next year December then we will be ready 😁 and start our married life together :)  so it's your decision

My husband I knew each other for 8 years before getting married, friends for a little over 5, dated for a year and a half, engaged for a year, married for 4 months now :)

Like with me and my hubby, he asked me to marry him the 29 of October and then on October 31 we married. My neice got engaged on July 4 and married on Aug 15. Everyone is different. Do what you feel is best.

We dated for about 4 years and were engaged for 10 months and had a big, nice wedding. We needed to date 4 years but that was just us. I firmly believe there are people out there that are ready to be married in a lot less time but we weren't. My parents only dated 10 months before getting married and they have been happily married over 40 years. I read a study that dating 2-3 years before getting married is he sweet spot with regards to divorce statistics but who knows how accurate those are

We've technically been engaged for just about 3 years now. He was my high school boyfriend and I told him he could propose anytime after I graduated high school and he did that same year, but we knew we wouldn't actually get married until after I graduate from college and I still have another year to go. However long you want to wait is your business. I knew a couple who got engaged one day and then just went to the courthouse the following day.

It really depends on you, but a year seems like a nice length. Assuming you only plan to get married once, wouldn't you want to enjoy being engaged? This is a milestone that everyone should enjoy.

My engagement lasted a little over a year. It was a good amount of time to plan our wedding, especially being on a small budget. Gave time to save.
