I am 12 weeks pregnant. I have had several ultrasounds so far. ( 2 from the fertility dr and 2 from my OB) at my 12 week appointment they did another ultrasound everything looks great heart beat is 162 and the baby is developing normally. I asked about hearing the heart beat with a doppler since no one has done this yet, she said it is too early. You wouldn't be able to hear anything. Usually we do the doppler at 20 weeks at you anatomy scan.

Maybe different hospitals doing things differently, but when my friend was pregnant with her first child she went through a different hospital and at the OB office at 8 weeks they did use a fetal doppler and detected a heartbeat.

Why wait til 20 weeks? That seems a bit ridiculous to me..

I have not been too thrilled with my care so far..
