So is honesty always the best policy? Because someone wasnt honest with me it now impacts any future relationships I'm trying to form...

My ex gave me an STD- Herpes. It is something I have to live with but take all the precautions necessary and take medication daily to prevent flare ups, but I've found when I'm dating and before I get intimate with someone I have to be honest and tell them right? However that is then putting them off obviously... so in going forward am I to be honest or am I to say absolutely nothing ever? And then what happens? Surely its bound to come out? I didn't get a choice when I got it, I didn't get to have any say over the matter... and yet I'm sat here after being honest with someone feeling really shitty and penalised because they dont want to carry on dating... which ok it's a big thing especially because nobody talks about it, it's just got a shit reputation and is embarrassing... 😔😪 so do I tell anyone I date or just keep it to myself.
