Single umbilical artery?

I had me ultrasound today and i got a call from my dr telling me that she noticed something that didnt look normal. The umbilical cord has only one artery when its supposed to have two. Any other  moms have had this diagnoses? Im scared and worried. I need to get me test done and another ultrasound.

I found out I have a two vessel cord (one going in and one going out) on Tuesday. My periantologist told me I should not worry and NOT go to google because it'll just scare me. If everything else looked healthy (kidneys, hearts, etc) she said there is a 95-98% chance the baby will be born perfectly healthy.

They will monitor you more closely to check his growth but unless anything else turns up abnormal you have NOTHING to worry about!

My baby only has one also. Doctor said that she is just going to monitor his growth closer. Just has an ultrasound and he is measuring 1.1 pounds and almost a week ahead. I'll say everything is normal.

Our doctor told us the same thing. He said they would watch to make sure the baby didn't have any growth issues but that everything looked good so far. He didn't seem too concerned but we'll probably have another ultrasound around 32 weeks.

Yep me too! Found out this past Mon. All they are doing for me is ordering an extensive ultrasound, which we have on Mon, and extra appointments to monitor growth starting at 32 wks- stress tests and ultrasounds. It's ok to look online for facts but remember, just because it can happen itdoesn't  mean it will! Take it all with a grain of salt and if baby is growing and healthy, and docs are saying it's all good, just go with thr flow!

Prayers!! If don't mind me asking, how many weeks? Was it your anatomy scan?

I just looked it up on wiki and it said that about 75% of the time the missing artery isn't even missed.  For the rest they just have a higher risk of Heart problems.  They just do extra ultrasounds to keep an eye on it. What did your doc say?
