Video monitor?

Is getting a video monitor worth it? Our room is on the top floor across the house from where we usually are during the day and I feel the need to run up and check her every single time I hear a noise over the monitor. We have the Owlet but don't always have the chance to put it on, and I'm just wondering if a video monitor is really worth it? Or do you find yourselves just staring at it the whole time? I also have a (maybe) irrational fear that the monitor could get hacked and some creep will be watching my baby.
