Am I Doing The Right Thing?

El

When I was a few months pregnant, our roommate got a cat. Well, this cat hadn’t been well taken care of and I ended up getting a ringworm rash that didn’t go away until after I gave birth.

My pregnancy hormones made me a bit crazy and I went off. I told him that cat had to stay in his room until he took her to the vet. Well, he never did and the cat ended up living in his room for months.

He moved out of the house last night into an apartment that wouldn’t allow animals. A few weeks ago, he decided to let the cat go... apparently out his bedroom window.

She’s made a few appearances, mostly around his truck. Last night after he moved out, she came up and sat near me at the edge of the garage. She looked so sad and it just broke my heart.

We lured her into the garage with food and closed the garage door. She’s a tiny cat to begin with, the size of a kitten. But she hasn’t been eating I guess and is skin and bone.

I’ve decided to take her in, make an appointment for the vet. I plan on keeping her away from the other animals and the baby until she’s seen the vet.

A part of me feels guilty, like it’s my fault she was stuck in the room and let go outside. I didn’t make those choices, though. I told him take her to the vet or keep her in the room. He decided to not take her to the vet. He decided to let her go like that.

But, I know both my fiancé and our roommate blame me. So, in a way I feel like taking her in is a good way to make amends? Plus, I couldn’t live with myself knowing I let her starve on her own outside.

Here she is, finally trusting me enough to drink out of her water
