I personally don't think it is wrong at all. Especially because my first is a boy, and now that i'm having a girl I am basically starting over. We are reusing a lot of the big things but clothes, diapers etc are always needed.

This is my third and we’re throwing another one. 
My first baby shower, my mum threw it for me and was just a nice afternoon with all of my gfs!
My second one was 12 months later and we just had a BBQ, mostly with family and my husbands friends because my husband wasn’t involved with the first shower and we made it a nappy raffle, so whoever bought a pack of nappies, went in to the raffle to win a prize. Our prize was movie tickets, alcohol and chocolates.
This is our third and well also be having it 12 after our last shower. This is a girl (after 2 boys) and there’s no issues having another. Every baby deserves to be celebrated, regardless of gender, age etc.
In all fairness too, we don’t do gift registries etc and make it more of a catch up with family and friends!

There are so many factors to consider.. how far apart in age are the kids? Some people had to sell their baby stuff because of space or money, or the age gap is big enough they thought they wouldn’t need it anymore. Is it the same gender as the older sibling(s)? Having the opposite can make things difficult cuz now you need a whole other wardrobe. If the parents are well off, it’s probably more appropriate and acceptable to have a party that’s more of a meet the baby thing than a gift giving thing. But everyone’s situation is different.

It’s not wrong to have one but I think it’s wrong to expect it. If someone offers awesome but I wouldn’t throw it myself. Bottom line, do whatever you feel happy with!

You can have a Sprinkle Party! 
Basically the same as a shower but it’s more oriented around your current babe becoming a big bro/sis, and you’ll also receive less slack from friends and family saying you’re only allowed one shower. 
IMO every baby deserves a celebration so I say GO FOR IT! 
If you think people will be uncomfortable, simply take away the need for gifts and just celebrate babe.

We just bought our first house and move in a month before baby is due so we’re going to have a diaper party/meet the baby/ housewarming thing when we’re ready. We’ll be 2 hours from our families

We’re doing a gender reveal/diaper party instead of a baby shower for our 2nd since due date is so close to the holiday season. I wanted to celebrate baby #2 just like our first and I think everyone has a right to do so! I also made everyone aware that presents were NOT a thing we wanted to focus on, but some people still like bringing them so we asked people to bring diapers instead of traditional presents like outfits or swings or baby lotion.
