I don’t really like the name Jameson as the first name bc everyone will call him James, but my husband likes it

Just tell everyone his name is Jameson not James. My firstborn is Samuel and I tell people that. I don’t like Sammy and we call my husband Sam. It wasn’t that difficult. Mainly important with family. Most strangers will ask if there is a nickname or ask what you call him. I didn’t get any issues from family. Some people at church for a bit for say Sammy or baby Sam but they caught on to us saying Samuel all the time.

My husband is named Jameson and no one calls him James. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think it’s just something you set as a parent. Call him by his name and people will follow. But if you don’t like it that’s something else. 😂

I know of a Jameson who goes by Jem which I thought was so cute. I'd personally go with Jamie as a nickname. There's a few different nicknames that feel natural so people won't necessarily go to James first. And if they do, just correct them. One person tried to give my daughter a nickname I hated and after just one correction we never had the problem again.
