Anyone test positive for GBS?

Positive for group B strep? What does this actually mean??

It’s something some people naturally have. My doctor told me 1 out of 3 women have it. It can come and go, and does no harm to women, but during delivery the baby can contract it and develop severe illnesses such as pneumonia or meningitis. They put you on antibiotics to reduce the chances of you passing it to baby. 1 out of 4000 chance with antibiotics baby might get it, and 1 out of 200 without antibiotics.

I tested negative for it. It’s not an STD or anything dangerous for adults unless your immune system is compromised. It’s bacteria found in the vagina or rectum that can be harmful to newborns. If you test positive for it they’ll have you on an IV with penicillin when you go into labor so it’s not passed on to your baby.

Haven’t gotten my results yet. My last appt was Monday and I go in Thursday.

I believe If you are positive they will do IV antibiotics during labor to prevent any complications with baby.
