How does your husband help?

My husband hits the gym after work and then plays video games. He will help with baby stuffs when I ask, but I wish I could figure out what job I could give him. He has been in bed for an hour already. I am just now finishing cleaning the kitchen and packing baby up for daycare after cooking and consoling a sad baby at the same time. Oh and while dinner was in the oven, I gave the baby a bath. I feel like I do so much more than he does. How does your husband help?

None of us sits down for the night until both of us do. The house is not immaculate, but at least help with dishes, bath, bedtime etc. My husband has always been the baby bathtime man, and it helps while giving them some time alone to bond and splish splash. If he works 40 hours a week, then you working 40 hours a week caring for the house and baby makes you even. ...not you do everything.

When we’re both home with our son, we pretty evenly split diaper changes and rocking him to sleep. We both help bathe him. I do all the feeding (nursing), and he does all the laundry (cloth diapers, clothes, etc). I still do the majority of cleaning and tidying up around the house.

My BF doesn’t do shit except play time. He used to wash bottles but has been slacking since I got pregnant again. It’s the most annoying thing. It should be 50/50 or at least 70/30 🤷🏻‍♀️

Every family is different. You should sit down and have a conversation with him about how you're feeling, and work together to create a system that works. To answer your question though, my spouse mostly cares for the baby only when I can't. For example, bathroom, shower, etc. She also takes the baby randomly during the afternoon to give me a break and they have their own playtime. I breastfeed, change all diapers, and all baths. She helps get the baby dressed for outings, puts the diaper bag together, and always prepares the stoller. She also does most of the laundry, works outside the home full time, and is in college. 
A system that works for us when there's a lot to do is asking "baby or..." like "baby or dishes" "baby or sweeping" Basically asking if you'd rather care for baby or do the chore, bcuz each of us has to do one of them. For that to work you both have to agree that the task needs to be done though.

My partner works 12 hr swing shifts. The days he has off he is helping with everything. Dishes, laundry, bath time, yard work etc... Even when he’s worked or has to go to work - if I need him - he helps me. We have a 15 month old and I’m currently 40+5 with our second. I’m very grateful to have a loving partner who just gets that our home is both of ours and that we are a team. We’ve been together for 15 years though so we’ve had plenty of time to learn to compromise and communicate well.

Half of everything when home. We have two toddlers and are expecting. He washes dishes, does at least half of the diaper changes, does story time with our girls before bed so I can relax a little every night, he tries to help with bedtime although our girls prefer me right now. When our girls were babies I would wake him up when someone would wake and he would get them and bring them to me to feed then he would change them and rock them back to sleep. It sounds amazing and I’m very blessed but I do recognize that this absolutely exhaust him to do after working a full day.

My house is the same, unless I ask he doesn’t just do it. But my husband is part time so from noon tell 5 he’s with our son all day and will usually bath him and do a couple things around the house so I’m not usually to bugged by doing everything once I’m home. I do wish he’d clean the house so I didn’t have to once I got home. Just talk to him and work up something that works for you both, your a team just gotta communicate to be on the same page.

Soon as he comes home from work he sits down with the baby & takes care of her for the night while I sleep he gets home between midnight and 1 am from work and takes care of her until 6 am and he also helps with the house work 💞 we team up together and get house cleaning done before he goes to work I'll be going back to work twice a week before he goes to work and 1 of his days off so we don't have to get a baby sitter
