I just got the Mirena IUD today. It hurt really bad, as expected. Most of the pain went away within 5 mins. Then it just felt like regular period cramps. They lasted through out the day and I decided to have sex with my boyfriend to see how my cramps go and surprisingly they went away after. Should I expect to be cramping again tomorrow or soon?

Thank you for everyone who is concerned. I checked my string and I can still feel it so I believe it is in the right position. I will keep an eye out for an infection.

My doctor didn’t tell me not to insert anything for 24 hours. Actually she gave me a tampon right after.
