He’s been in daycare almost 3 years (he’s 3yo). He knows how to count to 20, knows all his colors, most of his shapes, and I believe he’ll get most his letters this year. My mom is a kindergarten aide and says he already knows more than half her students.
He readily goes there and plays with his friends, he talks about the things he does with his friends. He and another kid got baby brothers at the same time and have bonded over that. Half the time he’s still super clingy in social situations and half the time he approaches other new kids alone just fine.
He’s in a mixed age daycare and when he was a baby the older kids were amazing at teaching him new physical skills. They taught him how to use utensils, his sippy cup, how to climb. They tried and tried to teach him to roll but he refused that one lol.
He has a ton of patience with his baby brother and I think a lot of that is because of daycare.
Daycare has been amazing for us. Baby #2 recently started and he already has a new interest in any big kid he sees out in public (he’s the youngest at daycare), and I can’t wait to see how he blossoms at daycare.

We rarely had sick days once the kids went to school - they had built a good immune system at the germ factory....er...daycare.
We actually got really lucky with our daycare.  Our first was a high needs baby and the owner would hold him as much as he needed.  It was awesome for our family.  My son got the snuggles he needed.  I was able to work knowing my son was well cared for.  Thank goodness for strangers raising my kids!

Not my kids, but my 2 nephews are a week apart (their moms are sisters). Huge difference between the one that did daycare vs the one who didn’t. The one who didn’t wasn’t ready for kindergarten and ended up staying back. Could be a coincidence academically but his behavior was different too as in interacting with other children

My daughter is an only child so she definitely gained confidence around other children while she was in daycare. Her talking and listening skills improved loads too.
