So I’m 22 years old and I’ve never had a Pap smear, never had a check up, no gyno. Not sexually active at all. I have been to get checkup up once before but they said I was too young, and then I went again years later with the thought that my insurance from my job would cover it but it didn’t so I couldn’t get the check up done. Now sure what to do at this point. Thoughts?🤷‍♀️

I didn’t have my first Pap smear until 22... many places don’t recommend them until 21 now anyways. Just call an obgyn office that accepts your insurance and is accepting new patients and set it up. It’s really not bad and definitely best to take your health into your own hands!

It's important for you to get it done for cervical cancer. You don't necessarily need to get checked for STDs (though they can be passed from mother to child while in the womb/during pregnancy) since you're not sexually active, but that honestly isn't the main point of a pap. It's to check for abnormal cells on your cervix and weird formations in the vaginal canal - things you can't check for at home.

I’m 18 and got my first one at 16. They have come pretty routine for me I get them yearly.

My doctor suggested it before I turned 27 but I was 29 and pregnant for the first time before having one. You may as well do it though if you have insurance it should be covered
