I need help.

Brooke

Me and my boyfriend are not married. He leaves for basic training Monday and he told me that because I’m having his baby I could live on base. However, I‘ve heard other things. I’ve been told he has to adopt my first born son, and marry me before we can live with him on base. I don’t know if the recruiter would’ve told him this and maybe he lied to me to throw me off because he might propose soon.. but is there anybody who could help explain this whole thing to me. I’m 25 weeks pregnant and kinda freaking out but I don’t wanna ask him and risk ruining a proposal.

No you won't be able to live with him on base unless you are married. But he does not need to adopt your first child. Step-children are eligible for Tricare and other military benefits as long as you are married.

Thank you. I’ve had a feeling that was the case but I’ve been a little anxious because he’s been so vague with me. I think he’s planning to propose when he comes home for the baby being born.
