Can I move to nyc if I’m homeless ?

I’m at risk for losing my job.. and I’m about an hour and half away from nyc in CT. I wanted to know if the shelter would take me and my child in if I’m not from there ?im also a single mom. I want to go to nyc because I don’t drive and ik it’s easy to get around.

I don’t think you need to prove residency to stay in a shelter. However NYC is a very expensive city. I live in Brooklyn and everything is more expensive here. Food, cloths, rent, general expenses. I wouldn’t move here just for the shelter.

They will take you in, my cousin came from Florida and got in a shelter here.

path shelters wont reject your or your child . i got into path when i was about 2 almost 3 months pregnant because i got pregnant in the adult side (without kids) of the homeless shelter system . been here since january gave birth in june and still have yet to receive a voucher for an apartment
