At what age would you take your child to see an R rated scary movie in the theater?

If the child was into scary movies and wanted to go. It was a conversation that came up between some friends earlier and I’m curious to see what other moms have to say.

R ratings have a 17 year old age limit for a reason. I would encourage my child to seek other hobbies and tell them they have the rest of their life to watch R movies. That’s what my parents said to me and it worked fine

I personally would wait until 15/16/17 because I’m pretty strict about age restrictions 🤷🏻‍♀️
But it does come down to a case-by-case basis and every child is different
