Elective Induction ??

Question

My due date is Jan 7th, but due to Health Insurance reasons, my husband and I are REALLLLLLLLY hoping to have our little girl before the end of the year. (So at 38 weeks and 6 days it would be December 30th, which would give us December 30th and 31st for labor and delivery and fingers crossed it doesn’t take longer than that!) 
I have a doctors appointment Friday where I’m going to bring it up just to know the hospital policy and criteria for an elective induction, but i want to hear from you. Did you choose an induction? What was your experience? Did this end in a vaginal delivery or csection? Did you need an epidural? How many weeks were you?

I think legally they can't electively induce unless you're 39weeks. Don't quote me on that, it could be different for every Doctor. Hoping baby just comes a little early for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I had an elective induction at 39 weeks (my dr wont do sooner than 39 unless medically necessary) 
Went in at 7pm dec 14th, cervadil @ 10pm, contractions started 5am, epidural at 11am, dilated to 9 at 12pm, started pushing at 3pm, baby born 6:24pm dec 15th.
I didnt have any problems (other than pushing for 3.5 hrs but that's because my son was sunny side up & then I developed a fever) 
I'd say I had the most perfect birth and i enjoyed every minute!

Induced at 41.5 weeks, starting from 0 progress. It was horrible. I was in labor for over 35 hours, pushed for 2, baby was in distress and I got her out about 10 min before the deadline they gave me to call for a c section. I had to get a whole mess of pain relief and whatnot because it was so long and exhausting, which helped but baby was so sleepy and uninterested in eating once she was here that my milk supply greatly suffered.

Induced at 39 weeks due to health reasons. Induced Saturday night and didn’t deliver till Monday night. Had an epidural as soon as I reached 3 cm lol. My hospital doesn’t really like doing c-sections unless necessary. I was told that it could take 4 to 5 days till I deliver. Some hospitals do a c-section after 24 hours if you are not progressing fast enough.  I would of preferred going into labor rather then being induced

I've been induced 4x, all medically necessary. 2 were successful, 2 ended in c sections. If you're not very progressed at the start, you have a higher chance of failure. But fyi my dr doesn't actually bill the insurance (except for labs and ultrasounds) until you deliver for the exact reason you're describing, so you don't pay double deductibles etc so check on that first.

I was induced at 42 weeks but my body was not ready so I ended up with a C-section. I think after your water is broken you have 24 hours.

i had one medical induction at 38 weeks & 2 elective inductions at 39 weeks. in order they took 4 hours, 1 hour, and 6 hours; all vaginal. had an epidural & morphine w/ one, just morphine w/ my second & all natural with my third.

In my area, they won’t induce before 41+1 without a medical reason

They won’t do elective inductions unless you are 39w and even then you have no idea how long the induction will take. Sadly, there isn’t much you can do but hope baby comes early.
