Is this true labor?

Question

I woke up two hours ago to what felt like me peeing myself. I realized it was more than usual so I went to the bathroom. Eventually it stopped and i really do think I just peed. But when I wiped I noticed a large amount of mucus. Since then I’ve been having contractions that are on average 5mins apart and last at least 1 minute. The thing is that it’s not super painful and I’m not continuously leaking so I don’t know if this is a false alarm or not. Do you have any advice on what to do? It’s early here so I’m trying to not wake my husband up. He also has work this morning and im not sure if he should call out of work or not. Any advice is much appreciated!! Im 39 weeks so at this point it’s just a waiting game. My hospital said to go in when I reach contractions lasting 1min with 4min intervals for at least 1 hour.

I would call the on call nurse/doc and see what they say. They’ll probably want you to come and and be checked out

Everyone's pain tolerance is different and every birth is different as well. They could not be that painful but still be super close to delivering! I would go in with contractions that close and lasting that long. Being sent home is better then delivering in your home or on the way there!

I'd wait for the contractions to get a little closer 4 minutes apart) before heading to the hospital unless you live far away. For me, the change in environment with my first slowed my contractions down and I ended up having to walk around the hospital to get them going before they would admit me.
If they don't start getting closer/stronger, I'd still call to see if they want you to go in to check your water. Your water probably isn't broken, but better to check just in case!

*UPDATE #2*
Sooooo I was sent home yesterday. I had contractions all evening and each one woke me up while I was trying to sleep last night. Today I walked around the mall allllllll day long and had contractions that were getting pretty painful. To the point where I had to stop what I was doing and just stand there. I came home from the mall, made dinner, ate, and watched some tv. I was told not to go back in until the pain was so bad that I wanted an epidural. So I sat there and my contractions eventually reached 2mins apart consistently and I had to breathe through them. Honestly I could’ve stayed home longer but my husband was freaking out. So I went to L&D and they measured me at 3cm! So they admitted me! And since the anesthesiologist was already at the hospital, I received my epidural right away. Which by the way was not great for me because I have scoliosis and it was difficult to get it perfectly. But it’s in now, as well as the catheter and I progressed to 3 1/2cm very quickly. Two hours have passed since then. I’m supposed to be sleeping right now but I’m just too nervous!! I’m not sure if anyone will read these updates but I’m using them as a way to remember what is happening. :)

*UPDATE 1*
I wasn’t dilated enough so I wasn’t admitted. They’re having me walk around to see if I make progress. My contractions are consistently 4mins apart. So they told me to just wait until they get super intense🤷🏼‍♀️ this sucks!! My contractions are making me soooo tired but apparently they’re not doing a whole lot!!

BUT my doctor did say it’s likely to be either tonight or tomorrow that I’ll have my baby. He said I probably won’t make it to my appointment on Friday so that’s good!
