Can you still be religious if you've had an abortion?

Question

I had an abortion i want to explore Catholicism, but I know abortion is considered a sin. How do I repent for this? I have prayed over it before but not sure if i am forgiven for what I did so I can have a relationship with God.

According the bible, all sins are forgiven once you asked Jesus into your heart except for blasphemy of the holy spirit.  He already paid the price for everyone's sins.  When Jesus died on the cross he forgave one of the worst sinners who was a murderer and theaf. God forgives as long as you mean what you say.  No one is perfect and God is love.

There are a lot of wonderful retreats that are offered for healing and the Catholic Church offers the sacrament of reconciliation which is a wonderful way of reconciling that broken bond with Christ. Remember that our Lord is merciful!! 💕

If you have done it already then it is a sin. If you knowingly do it it is also a sin. However God forgives and loves you no matter what. But it would be wrong to go do it when you know it is what God forbids.

I’m going to say this now and I hope it helps. Stop following religions and just follow God. All the different religions have different big important people who feel like you have to go through them in order for god to forgive you or in order for you to receive blessing from God etc. Go straight to God you have that right is says so in the Bible. When Jesus died for our sins he gave us access to the father that is why we pray in Jesus’ name. God had forgiven you I guarantee it. He didn’t send his son to die just to all of the sudden stop forgiving and hold things against us. As long as you have breath in you you have been given a second chance. You said you prayed about it just move on and trust God.

Church is a house full of sinners — no one is without sin. So even if you have previously sinned, you can connect with God and repent. True repentance is about turning away from whatever you are repenting for and doing what you can to stay away from whatever caused that particular transgression.
So, you have had an abortion. You repent, are forgiven, and do the things necessary to not be put in that position again (generally), like no longer engaging in premarital sex. 
You can and are still spiritual/religious even if you sin. That is the purpose of grace and what Jesus did. It’s not an excuse to just go all willy nilly and sin and expect forgiveness without change, but repentance and change will always be there.
